Many Filipino yuppies now work from home at least twice a week. A standard desk often eats up too much precious floor space.

You might feel like your bed and office are merging into one. This lack of boundaries leads to stress and lower productivity. Implementing cloffice solutions can solve this problem effectively. A cloffice is simply an office built into a closet or small nook. It allows you to “close” your workspace when the day ends. You gain a clear mental break between work and rest.

Small Cloffice Solutions for Your Studio

Begin your transformation by selecting the right desk.

Traditional desks with four legs take up valuable footprint area. Instead, choose floating desks to keep the floor underneath completely clear. You can mount a sturdy wooden slab directly to your wall. This setup creates an airy feel in a cramped room. You can slide a storage bin or a chair under the desk easily. Ensure you use heavy-duty brackets to support your computer equipment. A floating surface looks sleek and modern in a minimalist studio. It provides enough room for a laptop and a notebook.

Next, you must address the issue of storage.

Large cabinets often make a small studio feel like a warehouse. Wall-mounted organizers offer a better way to store your gadgets. Use a pegboard to hang your headphones, chargers, and stationery. Pegboards allow you to change the layout as your needs grow. You can add small baskets or hooks for your keys and cables. Keeping these items off the desk surface reduces visual clutter. A clean desk helps you focus better on your tasks. It also makes your living area look much more organized.

Proper lighting is essential for a functional workspace.

Most closets or corners lack adequate natural light. Avoid using a bulky desk lamp that occupies your working surface. Install a slim LED strip light under a shelf or cabinet. These lights provide bright, even illumination without taking up any space. You can find affordable USB-powered light strips in most online stores. Choose a “cool white” setting to keep your energy levels high. Good lighting prevents eye strain during long hours of screen time. It also makes your cloffice look like a professional workstation.

Managing your tech cords is a vital step.

Tangled wires look messy and create a tripping hazard. You must implement cable management hacks to maintain a clean aesthetic. Use adhesive clips to run wires along the underside of your desk. Bundle long cables together using simple velcro ties or zip ties. A power strip box can hide bulky adapters from plain sight. These small steps make a massive difference in a tiny apartment. Your workspace will look polished and intentional rather than cluttered. You will feel more professional during your video calls.

Comfort should remain a top priority even in a small space.

You do not need a massive executive chair for your cloffice. Look for a slim, ergonomic task chair that fits under your desk. Many local furniture shops sell “ghost chairs” or mid-century modern styles. These designs look light and do not overwhelm the room visually. If space is extremely tight, consider a foldable stool. You can hang the stool on the wall when you finish working. This keeps your walking path clear during your evening routine. Small adjustments ensure you stay productive without sacrificing comfort.

Consider the background for your virtual meetings.

A cloffice inside a closet provides a natural frame. You can paint the back wall a bold color for contrast. Alternatively, hang a piece of local art or a fabric tapestry. This adds personality to your workspace without using floor area. It also hides your clothes or storage bins from your colleagues. A professional background boosts your confidence during important presentations. You can truly own your space despite the limited square footage. Your home will feel like a sanctuary and a powerhouse.

Decorate your new nook with a few small plants.

Succulents or snake plants thrive in low-light indoor environments. Greenery adds a touch of life to a tech-heavy corner. Place a small pot on a shelf above your monitor. It improves air quality and lightens your mood instantly. Use a ceramic pot that matches your overall room theme. This simple addition makes your cloffice feel more inviting and less sterile. You will enjoy spending time in your dedicated work zone. It becomes a reflection of your personal style and drive.

Establish a “close shop” routine every evening.

Shut down your laptop and clear away any loose papers. If your cloffice has doors, close them firmly. This physical action signals to your brain that work is over. You can now enjoy your studio as a place of relaxation. Separation is key to maintaining mental health while working from home. Your 20sqm unit will feel much larger with a hidden office. You have successfully balanced your professional life and your private home. This smart approach defines the modern Filipino yuppie lifestyle.

Giving importance to Workplace ergonomics for the home office is giving importance to our health and well being.

Workplace ergonomics is the science of designing the workplace and home office, keeping in mind the capabilities and limitations of the worker. … A workplace ergonomics improvement process removes risk factors that lead to musculoskeletal injuries and allows for improved human performance and productivity.1

Studies have shown that ergonomic design in your work space, whether at the office or at home, can not only reduce injury and pain, but boost your productivity and overall satisfaction as well.

This is important specially now since most of us work, will work or started working from home. The actual office might offer some comforts such as air conditioning, proper height tables and chairs, etc.

But we are talking about working from home, that is why we need to make sure that we can last long hours of work. Unlike real office environments, where you can walk around to get coffee. You can either get your coffee in the pantry or go down to get take out. This activity of walking helps relieve some of the pains of doing office work. A luxury you might not have at home due to the absence of peers.

With the COVID-19 literally in the air, more and more of us have planned or are subject to staying at home and working in our version of a compact home office. Most if us have very little to minimal working areas that is why we should try to learn to maximize space.

Compact Home Office setup

A working area in the home need not take up much space. At the very least, a dining table would suffice. But then there is the privacy concern. This is true specially if you have young once’s active within your home. That every now and would open and close the fridge, get a plate and eat something.

This homey kind of situation does not do good when your “home” work entails numbers or talking on the phone. Our compact home office definitely has to be in an area where there is the least foot traffic in your home.

Keeping our work area out of the way after our work is a major concern. We do not want our kids getting into our work. Designing a compact home office does not really have to dent your expenses. A table that is built-in to the wall is good. That when this table is open you have a sizeable work area. And when it is folded your work area and work tools is out of sight and out of mind.

Desk space or work area is important. There are those of us who cannot work in smaller that standard desk space. When choosing or designing your work area, best to take this into consideration. Where you sit or the chair that you use can be any chair or stool that is readily available to you. Only thing is be sure you are comfortable enough to be sitting on this for long periods of time.

This quarantine that is imposed on most of us will be there for some time that is why we need to have a simple but useable home office setup. That we can use anytime our services are need at home.

If you are the freelancer type of person or someone who brings office work home, converting an empty or sometimes misused balcony or terrace may save some of the Living area space for entertainment for the family.

Here are some ideas on how you can reclaim and use your balconies either for home or for business.
